August 23, 2026—The Marshall County School District will be closed Monday, August 24, 2026 due to impacts from the recent storms. It is never an easy decision to close school, but given the large number of families and staff members without power, we feel it is the best option. School will resume Tuesday, August 25, 2026 and schools will work with the families of those who remain affected by power outages.
6th Grade Microscope Training Lab, Day 2!
Our 6th-grade scientists put their microscope skills into action by observing microscopic organisms living and swimming in pond water! Students practiced focusing and explored the samples at multiple magnifications, up to 400x.
It was an exciting opportunity to discover a tiny world that is usually hidden from view!

We’re also excited for Friday’s BMS Band Showcase, where our 5th graders will get to see the band in action and learn more about joining!

History came to life in Mr. Martin’s 6th-grade Social Studies class!
Students created their own clay pottery while learning how ancient cultures used proper temperatures to fire and strengthen their creations. What a fun way to connect art, science, and history through hands-on learning!

Our 5th grade students were busy learning about photosynthesis through hands-on activity!
Students completed a photosynthesis strand and used colored beads to build, learn, and review the photosynthesis equation.
By connecting the reactants and products, students were able to see how plants use light energy, carbon dioxide, and water to make the food they need.
Learning science is even better when students can see it, build it, and explain it!

Students will complete a real scientific experiment, not just a demonstration, and teachers will provide checkpoints and guidance throughout the process. Dates and checkpoints will be provided by the grade level Science teachers as needed.
Please review the attached flyer for important information. We cannot wait to see our students’ curiosity, creativity, and scientific thinking in action!
