Our Byhalia School Band had an exciting opportunity to travel to Indiana and participate in the Orville Redenbacher Popcorn Festival Parade!
While in Indiana, our students also visited Indiana Dunes National Park, giving them a chance to enjoy amazing scenery and make memories together outside the classroom.
We are proud of our students for representing BMS on the road and thankful to everyone who helped make this experience possible!

Creativity Was in Full Bloom!
The Bluejays Junior Garden Club met on September 9 and learned how to trim, arrange, and display fresh flowers. Each student created a beautiful floral arrangement while practicing creativity, patience, and teamwork.

Today, Byhalia Middle School joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We also honor the courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday citizens who demonstrated extraordinary bravery and compassion.
May this day remind us of the importance of unity, kindness, service, and caring for one another. We will never forget.

Byhalia Hometown History Hunt!
How much do you know about the history of our community? Research the answers, write them in your own words, and turn your entry in to Mr. Newman or your Social Studies teacher.
Earn 2 House Points for every correct answer and 3 bonus points for solving the Indigenous history question!
Remember to include your name, grade, House, answers, and sources. One entry per student, happy hunting!

Students in Mrs. Holloway’s class participated in a collaborative review activity focused on the stages and phases of meiosis. Working in groups, students were assigned a specific phase of meiosis and challenged to create a frozen pose (freeze frame) that visually represented the key events of that phase.
After collaborating and preparing their representations, each group presented their freeze frame to the class. Their classmates were then challenged to identify the phase of meiosis being demonstrated.
This engaging, hands-on activity provided students with an opportunity to reinforce their understanding of meiosis in a creative and interactive way. It also promoted collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and student engagement while allowing students to demonstrate their understanding of meiosis.

There are some great things happening at BMS! For the first time ever, our students are designing projects that will be brought to life using a 3D printer in Mr. Goodgame’s class.
Even more exciting, two of our students are designing and building something they will actually use on their four-wheelers! This is hands-on learning, creativity, and real-world problem-solving at its best.
Great job, Mr. Goodgame, for giving our students opportunities to create, innovate, and turn their ideas into something real!

Mrs. Sullivan put a fun and engaging spin on reviewing vocabulary with her students! She turned the review into a team competition where students worked together to choose the correct vocabulary term that matched the definition given.

Ms. Sullivan’s 7th grade students have been working hard to strengthen their writing skills! From organizing their thoughts and developing ideas to improving sentence structure and communicating clearly, students are building skills that will help them succeed across every subject.
Strong writers become strong communicators, critical thinkers, and confident learners. These students are putting in the work to get better every day!

Mr. Goodgame's 8th Grade Cyber Foundations students are taking technology beyond the computer screen! Students used measurement, digital design, and problem-solving skills to create replacement parts and bring their designs to life with a 3D printer.
From taking accurate measurements to designing a model and producing a physical part, students are seeing firsthand how technology can be used to solve real-world problems.
Experiences like this build skills in precision, creativity, critical thinking, and the engineering design process; while showing students some of the exciting possibilities available in technology and STEM careers.

Anime Club: More Than Just a Club!
Today’s Anime Club meeting was a great reminder of what extracurricular activities can bring to our students. Anime may be the shared interest that brings these students together, but the real benefits go far beyond what they watch on a screen.
Anime Club provides students with another place to belong, build friendships, express themselves, be creative, and connect with adults and other students through something they genuinely enjoy. The stories and characters they discuss can also open the door to conversations about perseverance, friendship, teamwork, courage, responsibility, overcoming challenges, and personal growth.
As Mr. Gibson shared, anime has had a meaningful influence on his own character and who he has become, and he believes many of those same positive lessons can have an impact on our students. Today gave us a glimpse of that potential. The kids were engaged, excited, and already looking forward to the next meeting!
A huge thank you to Ms. B and the BMS Admin Team for supporting the idea, helping bring everything together, and giving our students another opportunity to find their place at BMS. Thank you as well to Mr. Gibson for bringing his passion for anime and his desire to positively impact students into the club.
And we have to give a special shout-out to Mr. Turk! Mr. Gibson pointed out how naturally Mr. Turk was able to engage students and turn their conversations into meaningful, thought-provoking discussions. Sometimes students learn the most when they don’t even realize a lesson is happening!
It takes people willing to share their interests, talents, and time to create opportunities like this for our students. Thank you to everyone who helped make Anime Club possible and to our students for making the first meeting such a success!

Dr. Harris has her students taking science beyond the textbook with their Waves in the “Real World” Project! Students will choose a real-world technology and investigate how frequency, amplitude, and wavelength help that technology work.
From sonar, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and radar to ultrasound, X-rays, lasers, musical instruments, and more, students will see just how important waves are in the technology we use every day!
Students will create either a PowerPoint or 2–3 page paper and give a short oral presentation explaining their chosen technology and the science behind it.
Due September 15, 2026
